SPRINGFIELD, ORE, 8/14/24 – Richardson has successfully modernized its lighting system with the help of Oregon Electric Service, transitioning from outdated fluorescent lights to advanced LED technology in their Springfield headquarters. The upgrade, completed with minimal downtime and no disruption to productivity, not only boosts operational efficiency but enhances employee well-being.

Richardson’s commitment to quality in both products and its work environment drove the decision to make this switch. Beyond improving energy efficiency, LEDs offer several key health benefits that contribute to a better workplace:

  • Health Benefits of LEDs: The new lights contribute to better employee well-being by mimicking natural sunlight, which helps regulate circadian rhythms and improve alertness. They also reduce flickering common with fluorescent lights, decreasing the likelihood of headaches and migraines. Their ability to offer customizable light levels and warmer color temperatures can also lower stress and anxiety, creating a more comfortable work environment.
  • Boost in Efficiency: LED lights are up to 80% more energy-efficient than fluorescents, converting 95% of their energy into light and only 5% into heat. They require less power to produce consistent, bright output and boast a lifespan of up to 60,000 hours compared to the 10,000 hours typical of fluorescent bulbs.
  • Durable and Environmentally Conscious: Beyond efficiency, LEDs are more durable and environmentally friendly. Unlike fluorescent lights, LEDs are solid-state devices and do not contain hazardous materials like mercury, eliminating concerns about toxic vapor in case of breakage and reducing possible negative environmental impacts.
  • Improved Color Matching: The switch also improves color accuracy. LED lights can produce a full spectrum of colors, providing more precise color matching compared to the artificial hues of fluorescent lighting. This upgrade enhances the quality of color matching in Richardson’s factory, benefiting product creation.
  • Better Production Visibility: LEDs emit light in a focused 180-degree beam, reducing the need for reflectors or fixtures to direct the light. This improvement is particularly beneficial in areas such as the headwear production floor, where better visibility over embroidery machines and other workstations is crucial.
As a company made up of athletes, adventurers, and outdoor enthusiasts, a passion for environmental sustainability is central to Richardson’s values. The company is committed to incorporating sustainability solutions where possible across the enterprise to ensure the protection of the planet for future generations and their adventures.

Corvallis, Ore., Monday, February 12, 2024 – The Richardson Oregon All-Star Series, on behalf of the OHSBCA, announced its dates for 2024. This year, the state’s top senior baseball players will wrap their high school season June 22-23 at Oregon State University’s Goss Stadium.

The Richardson Oregon All-Star Series features the best-of-the-best seniors from the state’s 5A and 6A classifications in a two-day, two-game series.

“We are grateful to have Richardson’s support and appreciate their commitment to high school baseball,” said 6A Oregon All-Star Series Coordinator Jake Anders of Lake Oswego High School. “Our partnership with Richardson has brought new life to the series.”

This will be Richardson’s fourth year as the event’s title sponsor.

“We’re proud of our partnership with the Oregon All-Star Series and enjoy celebrating the top high school baseball players right here in our own backyard,” said Richardson President and CEO, Kelly Richardson. “Our brand is committed to supporting youth sports, and the All-Star Series is a perfect opportunity to continue that mission and shine a light on the importance of baseball at this level.”

With sponsor support, all-star players and coaches do not incur a lodging expense or pay a participation fee. Also, the all-stars are showered with branded swag and are fed throughout the series, all at no cost.

“Having a solid partnership with Richardson and playing at OSU has made this a tremendous baseball experience,” said 5A Coordinator Scot McDonald of Crescent Valley High School. “Seniors get the chance to cap their high school careers in an extraordinary ballpark in a series with unmatched tradition. It is first-class and a genuine celebration of our kids and the game.”

Last year, the North swept the South with Dawson Santana of Lakeridge earning Bob Brockman MVP honors. Levi Jones of Jesuit was named the North Most Outstanding Player and Austin Wolfe of Mountainside the North Most Outstanding Pitcher. Grant High School pitchers Ben Christensen and Kellen Segel recorded wins for the North, both in relief.

Since moving to Corvallis in 2011, future big leaguers like Milwaukie’s Kenyan Middleton, Lakeridge’s Cooper Hummel, Southridge’s Jace Fry and Sherwood’s Adley Rutschman have shined in the Oregon All-Star Series at the home of champions, Goss Stadium at Coleman Field.

“We can’t thank our partners enough for supporting high school baseball like they do,” said Director Dan Segel. “Longtime friends including John Dunn, Brian Leitgeb, Andy Wagstaff, Matt Farr, Dave Rush, Kelly Richardson, Ike Olsson, Paul Ables, Matt Leptich, John Sipple, and Mike Gits step up every year, and organizations like Richardson, Les Schwab, Nike, the Hillsboro Hops, the Bend Elks, Coral Construction, the Old Timers Baseball Association of Portland, the NWBCA, Oregon City Sporting Goods, DeMarini, and Washington Park Advisors do as well. We’re lucky to have them as teammates and stewards of the game.”

The opener of the Richardson Oregon All-Star Series is set for Saturday, June 22. First pitch is slated for 3 pm. The series concludes on Sunday, June 23 with a single game starting at noon.
